Commentary
There are of course many different ways to look at things but usually we
don't see all of them......
How about this for a rhyme system? AAXY for the verses,
where lines 1 & 2 of any given verse rhyme with each other, but then all 3 of the
3rd lines of the 3 different verses rhyme with each other and all 3 of the 4th lines
of the 3 different verses rhyme with each other. Meanwhile the chorus rhyme system
is CCCC, DDDD. For the middle section, I thought I wouldn’t work quite so hard with
the rhymes!
The slightest, lightest of strained strips
tightest, stretch-
Slender legs emerge brown and long
like arrows from a quiver.
Her steps small, though she's tall.
Her guard can't fall, reveal all.
And though the breeze starts to tease
above her knees, no-
Her steps small, though she's tall.
Her guard can't fall, reveal all.
And though the breeze starts to tease
above her knees, no-
Shyly down the town's frown crowd street,
Brushing, blushing tries to stay discreet,
Passers-
about what's right & wrong
with the glares and stares that they give her.
Peel off those years
of bleak and brutal repression
and uncover who you are.
No more the ugly duckling.
Join with the swans in flight
& Cinderella leaves her scullery for light.
Shuffle delicately up the stairs
thighs clasped as hands pressed
in impassioned prayers.
Know below the magnetised throng
hope height and gaze will deliver.
Her steps small, though she's tall.
Her guard can't fall, reveal all.
And though the breeze starts to tease
above her knees, no-
Her steps small, though she's tall.
Her guard can't fall, reveal all.
And as the breeze starts to tease
above her knees, someone sees.
